Chappy's Chat
I spent a little bit of time this week with classes as they rotated through our PE classes. I am always so impressed by students who give their best. I had a really nice moment with one year 3 student. He didn't want to verse the fastest boy in his class, none of his class did. But, just before the countdown, he changed his mind. He jumped in the lane next to the fastest boy and he ran as fast as he could. I felt an overwhelming sense of pride. I met him at the finish line and helped him reflect; did he just take a challenge head on? Yes! Did he give it his best? Yes! How did that make him feel? His smile of pride told it all. He may have come third but he took on a challenge and that persistence, drive and resilience will take him places in life. It made me think: How often do we shy away from challenge because we're afraid to lose? Do we give our best when we choose to only run races we can win?
This job is simple. Be here for the school, but the method is always changing and adapting to suit the needs. These little coaching moments really encourage me. I hope it encourages you. As we start preparing for Athletics day think about how success looks for your student. For some it's about refining their strategy and running as fast as they can, for others it's about being brave, or determined or participating.
The countdown is on for Chappy Week (week 7), this is a special time of year for me. I have the opportunity to raise funds this year by having a Crazy Sock Day (June 4th). Donations can be made through Qkr! or by bringing a coin on the day.
There is also a raffle that Scripture Union has organised for us. If you'd like to buy a ticket to win a brand-new trailer and kitchen appliances see the attached. To ensure funds come to the right service pick Kenmore State School on the drop-down menu.
Have a great weekend,
Chappy
