From the Leadership Team

Dear Kenmore families,

We've had a fantastic week filled with community spirit and memorable events, including:

  • P&C Trivia Night: A lovely evening of fun and laughter for our adult community members.
  • Junior & Senior Athletics Carnivals: Showcasing our students’ athletic talents and sportsmanship.

Thank you to our P&C, Mr Blaik, and all school staff for their support and dedication in organising these events that strengthen our community connections.

Celebrating Student Achievements

As we near the end of the semester, I want to commend our students for their continued dedication and accomplishments. Beyond their academic pursuits, many have actively participated in sporting, cultural, social and community activities. Their commitment to personal growth is outstanding.

A special thank you to our staff and families for your support, which plays a pivotal role in growing our students’ talents and achievements.

Staffing Updates for Semester 2

We look forward to Mrs Claire Ferris’ return after 12 months of maternity leave. She will provide internal relief and support to new teachers through our coaching and mentoring program.

Mrs Jenny Deans will continue as our Business Manager in Term 3. We appreciate Mrs Dean's vast experience and leadership as she continues to work with us.

Facilities Update

We’re pleased to announce the completion of the new mobility ramp, enhancing accessibility to classrooms and support spaces for all students and staff.

Next week, a small section of external painting will commence between the library and the office.

Message from Mr Blaik

Holy moly!! What a massive couple of days of KSS spirit!! 2 x athletics carnivals and a whole lot of action, fun, smiles, effort and school spirit!  It never ceases to amaze me just our awesome our kids are.  I am so proud of all of them for their effort, attitude and behaviour at their respective carnivals.  Also a big thank you to the teachers and families who have supported and encouraged the students in all their sporting endeavours.  Well done KSS!!

Thank you to our wonderful staff who looked after all the events throughout the day.  Without their tireless efforts and enthusiasm a carnival like this would fall apart.  We are very fortunate to have such a supportive staff here at KSS.  They are always more than happy to get behind these events to help keep our kids feel safe and supported, and to ensure they are given every opportunity to experience a wholistic education inclusive of sport and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.  Please know you are all very much appreciated!

I wanted to also acknowledge the generous support that Kenmore High School provided on the day.  The dozen or so High School students that assisted on the day were fantastic.  Their positive attitude and respectful behaviour is a testament to Kenmore High’s guidance.  The school should be very proud of these young men and women.  We at KSS very much value our relationship with the High School and hope to continue to be involved with them in the future when opportunities arise.

Now onto the results…congratulations KENNEDY!!  It is a well-deserved team win.  Well Done! Also a very big congratulations to our Age Champions for 2025 who after competing in the many varying events inclusive of pre carnival events (800m & Shot Put – 10-12yrs) attained the most amount of points overall. Congratulations to the following:

8 Yrs

Boys – Lachlan T

Girls – Eleanor F

9 Yrs

Boys – Josh D

Girls – Charlie W

10 Yrs

Boys – Preston J

Girls – Fatima S

11 Yrs

Once again, well done to all of our students.  I hope that they all have a restful break and all of our families stay safe during the holiday period.  I look forward to the second half of the year with you all.

Warm regards,

Mr Blaik

Message from Mrs Asmar

Congratulations Sophie L, Sophia Z and Samuel W for being selected for the Brisbane news writers’ show camp.

Completing all assignments in the course is a great achievement as we congratulate the following students on having done so:

  • Aurelia F
  • Sophie L - Selected to attend Brisbane Show Camp
  • Lucas L
  • Samuel W - Selected to attend Brisbane Show Camp
  • Sophia Z - Selected to attend Brisbane Show Camp

Independently completing an online course of this nature requires dedication and an extraordinary effort of hard work. Students were enrolled at the beginning of Term One and the final assignment due date was towards the end of Term Two. The course is entirely self-guided and consists of eight modules, some of which end with an online quiz while others require written submissions.

It is with delight to hear that these students were successful with their studies in completing the Online News Writers Course on the Learning Place, to be selected for The Brisbane Show Camp.

The Brisbane Show Camp is a partnership program of Education Queensland and the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Qld. - The Brisbane Ekka.

Each year, students from across the state participate in the online News Writing Course in the hope of gaining a place at the camp. Only 20 places are available, so to be selected is a considerable achievement. They will now get to live-in at the Ekka on a week long camp and become involved in media activities - news writing, photography and other media activities to capture the activities and the experience of the show.

The Camp program provides an opportunity for students to:

  • develop skills in the areas of digital media and news writing.
  • be involved in group and individual work in planning, researching, writing and editing news stories.
  • enjoy the activities of the Brisbane Ekka.
  • meet new friends.

Well done and we cannot wait to hear all about your experiences as you participate in the show camp.
