From the Leadership Team

Dear Kenmore families,

Bullying No Way! Day – Standing Together Against Bullying

Today, our school came together to acknowledge Bullying No Way! Day. Students proudly wore orange and purple as they echoed our school values: respect, responsibility, and resilience. The day included awareness-raising activities, and our school was privileged to hear an interesting story from Adopt-a-Cop Helen during assembly yesterday. Her message, encouraged students to speak up, be kind, and look out for one another.

Acts of Kindness: Crazy Hair for Cystic Fibrosis

In the spirit of kindness, students also participated in Crazy Hair Day to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis Australia. This special initiative supported one of our own families impacted by the condition, highlighting the caring and connected nature of our school community. The funny hairstyles and big smiles matched the generosity shown by all who donated. The amazing sum of over $600 was raised!

Book Week 2025: Book an Adventure

Next week, we look forward to our Book Week celebrations - one of the highlights of school calendars for 80 years! Students will enjoy author visits throughout the week, giving them the chance to connect with real writers and discover the inspiration behind their stories.

The week will conclude with our Book Character Costume Parade on Friday, 22 August, from 9:00 am on the Bibu Outlook (weather permitting). We can’t wait to see the creativity as students dress up as their favourite book characters.

This year’s theme is Book an Adventure. In the Year of Reading Great Children’s Literature, we encourage families to join in the celebration by talking about favourite books at home, visiting the library, and sharing favourite stories.

A special thanks to Mr Daniels, Mrs Deans, school captains and Rotary for arranging furniture donations to go from our school to schools in need in PNG and the Solomon Islands.

Student Dress Code - Reminders

At Kenmore State School, we take pride in our students wearing the school uniform neatly and respectfully. Our school community supports a Student Dress Code as it promotes a safe and supportive teaching and learning environment.

As we move through the term, we kindly remind all families of our uniform expectations:

Daily Uniform: A choice of the blue and maroon sun safe polo shirt with maroon skorts or shorts or a sun safe tartan dress. Year 6 students may also purchase a senior polo to wear as part of their daily uniform.

Music Shirts: Students who are part of one of our music programs are welcome to wear the new music polo on their designated day (Monday – Strings, Wednesday – Choir, Thursday – Band).

Winter items: Maroon track pants and zipped track tops are available from the uniform shop. Plain maroon jumpers are also allowed. Year 6 students also have the option to purchase a navy hooded senior jumper.

Hats: As a sun smart school, hats are required whenever students are outdoors (break times and PE class). Students will be asked to play in undercover areas or the library if they don’t have their hat.

  • Prep only: blue bucket hat
  • Years 1-6: Maroon broad brimmed hat or maroon legionnaires cap

Our P&C operated uniform shop directly supports school programs and fundraising efforts. Items bought help contribute to resources, equipment, and events that benefit all students.

We ask for your continued support in ensuring your child arrives each day dressed according to the school uniform policy. If you need any assistance with uniform items, please contact the school office who are happy to help.

German News

CONGRATULATIONS to our Kenmore SS students on their outstanding speeches at the LTQ German Speech Contest earlier this month.

The students' willingness to participate at Griffith Uni on a chilly Sunday morning was commendable and their dedication to rehearsing and taking on feedback makes Kenmore SS so proud of them.

Out of a very big section (Year 5 was the biggest year group with 20 competitors across 4 different schools!) and a very high standard, we are proud to announce that Kenmore SS took out:

1st - Charlie R

2nd - Evie D

4th – Agam K

5th – Raima J

6th - Milly W

We are delighted to announce that in the Year 6 section, Sophia Z was awarded 3rd place and Nicholas H 4th place.

The judges spoke about how wonderful it is that our students have begun learning a language early, and the many benefits it will bring them both as students now and in their future.

All competitors will be recognised with special certificates in an upcoming Assembly presentation.

From Mr Blaik

A massive congratulations to our amazing former Vice Captain Maddy H!  Maddy recently competed in the National Swimming Championships and WON GOLD!! What an outstanding performance from this super fish.  We are all so very proud of you Maddy and we will continue to follow your swimming endeavours with much interest in the years to come!
