From the Leadership Team
Dear Kenmore families,
P & C Disco
Our P & C School Disco is next Thursday evening! The P & C have worked hard to organise a fun night for our students. More details are available in the P & C section below. We look forward to seeing many families there.
Staff Development Day
Last Friday our Staff Development Day focused on:
- Parent-teacher interviews – making conversations purposeful and supportive.
- Maths pedagogy – strengthening the way we teach maths.
- Wellbeing workshop for teacher-aides – supporting their important role.
These sessions help us sharpen our practice and work together for the benefit of our students.
Teacher Aide Appreciation Week
This week (September 2–6) we celebrated our wonderful teacher-aides and the vital role they play in classrooms and across the school every day. Thank you to each of them for their dedication and care.
Student Growth
It’s been exciting to see the learning gains students have made this term. Parent-teacher interviews gave us the chance to celebrate achievements and plan next steps together. Thank you for your partnership in supporting student success.
Year 5 Leadership Camp
Our Year 5 students recently took part in their Leadership Camp, where they challenged themselves, worked as a team, and built confidence in their leadership skills. From group activities to problem-solving tasks, the camp was a fantastic opportunity for students to grow, connect, and prepare for their future leadership roles in Year 6. We are proud of the way they represented our school and supported each other throughout the experience. We are also incredibly appreciative of our wonderful teachers and teacher-aides who worked together to ensure all students had a successful camp experience.

Staffing Updates
We have a few staffing updates to share with families, with a number of staff taking some well-deserved leave:
- Mr O’Kearney (Deputy Principal) will be taking long-service leave from next week until Week 2 of Term 4. Mrs Clare Patullo will be acting in the DP role during this time.
- Miss Cass Williams will be on leave next week and will return on Day 1 of Term 4. She will be replaced by Mr Downing who has already taught a number of HPE days with us and will continue to deliver the Year 5 program set by Miss Williams.
- Mrs Nicola Soden commences long-service leave on Monday and will return Term 4, week 2. Mrs Claire Ferris is replacing her for the majority of this time.
- Mr Paddy Behan is currently on leave with his family and will return on Day 1 of Term 4. Mrs Fiona Watt is teaching his class during this fortnight.
- Mrs Kate Robinson is taking long-service leave next week. She will be replaced by Mrs Elizabeth Syme, who is well known to our school community, having worked here for many years in the support space. Enjoy the well-deserved break Mrs Robinson.
- Mrs Rachel Dalton has stepped down from her role as Business Manager. We thank Mrs Dalton sincerely for her commitment and the positive impact she has had at Kenmore. We are also very pleased to announce that Mrs Jenny Deans has been permanently appointed as our new Business Manager. Mrs Deans is already well known to our community, and we look forward to her continuing this important work.
End of Term
The last day of Term 3 is next Friday 19th September. School will return on Tuesday, 7th October after the long weekend. If I don’t see you between now and then, we wish everyone a safe and restful break.
Kind regards,
Ingrid
Safety Heroes – Year 2 Energex Visit
Big thanks to the team from Energex who joined us this week to talk to the students about electrical safety in and around the home. This was part of electrical awareness fortnight, and the team delivered some really important messages for all of us including our staff. The highlight for the Year 2 students was certainly the Energex truck and all its gadgets. Thank you also to Year 2 parent Sarah G (Liam’s mum) for coordinating this opportunity for our students.

Interschool Sport Year 5 and 6
Round 2 of sport today for our Year 5 and 6 students. This morning, I joined a group of students who were practising their touch passing skills on the oval in readiness for today. This commitment to improvement is something we have been seeing a lot of at the moment with our students spending their time practising their volleyball and touch skills before school and at lunch times to prepare themselves.
Students will continue sport next term in weeks 1,2 and 3.
Year 6 Art Work

Kenmore State School Extension – News Writers’ Course- Show Camp.
Celebrating Young Journalists from Kenmore State School
This year, selected Year 6 students from Kenmore State School participated in an online News Writers course facilitated by the Brisbane Urban Education Centre. Upon successful completion, several students were invited to attend the prestigious EKKA Show Camp—an incredible achievement, as only a small number of students from across Queensland are chosen each year.
We are proud to announce that three of our students were selected for this exceptional opportunity. Their participation not only recognises their emerging talent in writing and journalism, but also celebrates their initiative, teamwork, and creative thinking.
Well done to these young writers!
