Dear Kenmore families,
The past fortnight has been full of rich learning experiences for our students. Our STEM excursions have provided hands-on opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in action. These excursions form part of our ongoing community partnerships and continue to spark curiosity, encourage problem-solving, and strengthen student engagement with the Australian Curriculum.
Book Week
Last Friday, we celebrated Book Week with great joy and colour. The parade was a highlight - our students looked amazing dressed as their favourite characters. We were also fortunate to welcome a number of illustrators and authors who inspired our students with their creativity and stories. This year’s theme, Book an Adventure, truly came alive across the school, reminding us of the joy and wonder books bring into our lives. A big thank you to Mrs H and Mrs Caskie for making it happen!

School Opinion Survey
Thank you to all parents, caregivers, students, and staff who completed the School Opinion Survey this year. Your feedback is invaluable and shows the strong support for our school community. Results will be available later in the year and shared through our Annual Report on the school website.
Student-Free & Staff Development Day
Please note that Friday 5th September is a Student-Free Day for all students. Staff will be engaged in professional learning on this day. Our Teacher-Aides will participate in a Wellbeing Conference in the city. Teachers will be working through the new version of the Australian Curriculum and engaging in Mathematical Modelling workshops, as well as completing Parent-Teacher interviews.

After much anticipation Book Week finally arrived! The shortlisted books are on display in the library.
Mrs H has been reading the books in library time and the students have produced beautiful artwork for the colouring competition.
We enjoyed a wonderful Book Character Dress Up Day last Friday. We were so impressed with the standard of the costumes. Many thanks to all the supportive families. Staff enjoyed dressing up too!
Author/Illustrator Visits
We were delighted to welcome author/illustrator Yvonne Mes. Her latest book is The Opal Dinosaur, which is the true story of the discovery of a new Australian dinosaur with very special bones! Yvonne gave entertaining and interactive presentations of The Opal Dinosaur and Oliver’s Grumbles, and also a writer’s workshop.
We also welcomed Kristen Willis, CBCA shortlisted illustrator of Peek-a-Boo Lottie. Peek-a-Boo is played around the world in different languages and Lottie loves playing Peek-a-Boo most of all! Kristen joined us for a creative drawing workshop, and we are proud to display the beautiful artwork in the library.
The Premier’s Reading Challenge 2025 ended on 22nd August.
We have been very impressed with the excitement this challenge has generated and the number of students participating. We certainly love reading at Kenmore State School!
Students who have completed the challenge will receive a certificate from the Premier of Queensland later in the year. Students who have not quite completed the challenge will receive a participation certificate.

Father’s Day Stall
The Kenmore State School P&C Association is excited to host our annual Father’s Day Stall
on Wednesday, 3rd September!
This special event gives students a wonderful opportunity to purchase a thoughtful gift for Dad, Pop, or another important person they’d like to celebrate.
Gift Prices:
We’ll have a lovely selection of gifts available for $4 and $8.
How It Works:
Students will visit the stall in class groups during the day. We kindly ask that they bring correct money where possible.
Missed Out or Want More?
If students miss the stall or would like to buy an extra gift, items will be available from the Uniform Shop during first break on Thursday, 4th September, until sold out.
Father’s Day Tickets – Buy Early!
To help reduce cash handling on the day, Father’s Day Stall tickets can now be purchased via the Qkr App.
Cash and EFTPOS will also be accepted.
Tickets will be given to students as they approach the Father’s Day stall with their class group.
Thank you for your ongoing support and helping us make these events so special for our school community!
It’s DISCO TIME!
Get ready to dance the night away at our upcoming P&C Student Disco!
Thursday 18th September 2025, join us for an evening of music, fun, competitions and prizes as we raise funds to support the schools Chaplaincy Program.
The disco is one of the students’ favourite events of the year and one of our committee’s most successful fundraising opportunities to support our school community.
Given this is a community connection event, parents/caregivers will be required to remain on-site for the duration of the Disco (drop and go not permitted) so come along for a BBQ, drink and catch up with other families while the students create lasting memories (and epic dance moves) inside Amos Hall.
Get your tickets via the Qkr app !
Ticket sales will CLOSE from 2 pm on Tuesday 16th September 2025.
Please note, some last-minute ticket sales may be available on the night however not all food items will be available due to pre-ordering requirements. Don’t miss out and GRAB YOUR TICKETS NOW!
Disco and OSHC:
Children attending OSHC the day of the Disco will need to be signed out by a parent/caregiver before attending the Disco. OSHC staff are not available to support children attending the Disco.
Dual Disco Families:
Where families have children attending both the Junior and Senior Disco alternating, the school library will be set up with a movie for any children who have siblings attending the Disco. All non-school aged children must be supervised by an adult.
Volunteering - we also have some great volunteering opportunities across the evening for those interested. As always, we appreciate as little or as much time as you can spare. It’s a great way to meet other families and contribute towards your community in a purposeful way. You can help with anything from BBQ duties, ticket sales, burger making, coloured hair spraying, grounds supervision or more.
For more info please follow the link for volunteering here.
Uniform Survey
We're gathering early feedback to help guide future conversations about the school uniform. Please select the option that best reflects your view, and feel free to share any ideas you have.
If you care able to please complete the Uniform Survey by clicking the link - Uniform Survey.
A big shout out to all the kids who wore Crazy Hair and dressed in their Bullying No Way colours. It was a great fundraiser. We raised $470 that went towards Cystic Fibrosis.
One of my favorite sayings is " a little bit goes a long way". I think this is inspiring, a little bit of effort adds up, a coin here and a coin there adds up. Together these little steps add up. Together our $1 make nearly $500. Be inspired that your little bit helps! Your small donation helps, your little step towards self-care helps, your choice to be nice to another helps. All these little choices add up to make something very powerful: change.
Thankyou for all you do for your self, for your families and for this school. Keep at it!
