Dear Kenmore families,
Community Connections: 125th Anniversary Celebration – Saturday 26 July 2025
The countdown is on! We’re only 9 weeks away from coming together to celebrate a significant milestone in our school’s story — Kenmore State School’s 125th Anniversary Celebration.
On Saturday 26 July, from 3pm to 8pm, our school community will come together to honour a milestone that reflects more than just the passage of time - it speaks to a rich legacy of learning, belonging, and shared memories. Since opening its doors in 1900, Kenmore State School has played a central role in the education and development of this community. Generations of students have walked these grounds, growing in knowledge, confidence and connection.
To mark this occasion, we have commissioned Maestro Ed Kennedy to compose a special song for the band to play, titled A Century and Beyond, a song that will capture the story of our school and serve as a tribute to the vibrant spirit of learning, growth and connection that has defined Kenmore for over a century.
Our celebration on 26 July will have all the charm of an old-fashioned school fair, with something for everyone, including:
- Student performances of songs and dances practices as part of the Footsteps & Instrumental Music program
- Historical artefact displays, showcasing our school’s journey
- Food trucks, sausage sizzle, coffee & cake – with thanks to our fabulous P & C
- Library Book Shop – an opportunity to purchase and donate a favourite children’s book to the school library
- Old-fashioned games – selected by each class
- On outdoor screening of The Lion King at 6pm
This is more than a school event — it’s a chance for the whole Kenmore community, past and present, to come together, share stories, reconnect, and celebrate the generations of students, staff and families who have shaped our school into what it is today. I encourage you to bring a picnic rug, settle in for the afternoon, and help us mark this special milestone in the life of our school.
Look out for posters, FB event pages, and P & C updates for ticket purchases. We’d love to see you there!
Kind regards,
Ingrid
Footsteps Dance – ‘Dances through the Decades’
After the success of last year’s program, we are excited to have Footsteps Dance Program back next week. All students from Prep to Year 6 will participate in the program which links with our school’s Arts Curriculum from Week 6 – 10 in Term 2.
The program is led by Footsteps instructors and will teach students dance skills and dance routines. As we prepare to celebrate 125 years of education at Kenmore this year the sessions will focus on ‘Dances through the Decades’. We look forward to showcasing these at our 125 Year celebration in July.
Girls STEM Power Program
From physics to chemistry, robotics to engineering, yesterday 20 girls from our Year 5 cohort spent the morning at a new Education Queensland initiative – The STEM Girl Power Program. The program gives the opportunity for our students to work with Year 10 girls from various high schools across Queensland. The STEM Girl Power Initiative aims to provide girls with STEM experiences and role models, encourage them to participate in STEM at school and to consider STEM-related career pathways. Well done girls, and thank you to our STEM leader Mrs Asmar for coordinating such a great event.

Awards will be presented at Senior Assembly 2:30pm Thursday 29th May 2025
