Thank you to our P&C, Mr Blaik, and all school staff for their support and dedication in organising these events that strengthen our community connections.
Celebrating Student Achievements
As we near the end of the semester, I want to commend our students for their continued dedication and accomplishments. Beyond their academic pursuits, many have actively participated in sporting, cultural, social and community activities. Their commitment to personal growth is outstanding.
A special thank you to our staff and families for your support, which plays a pivotal role in growing our students’ talents and achievements.
Staffing Updates for Semester 2
We look forward to Mrs Claire Ferris’ return after 12 months of maternity leave. She will provide internal relief and support to new teachers through our coaching and mentoring program.

Message from Mr Blaik
Holy moly!! What a massive couple of days of KSS spirit!! 2 x athletics carnivals and a whole lot of action, fun, smiles, effort and school spirit! It never ceases to amaze me just our awesome our kids are. I am so proud of all of them for their effort, attitude and behaviour at their respective carnivals. Also a big thank you to the teachers and families who have supported and encouraged the students in all their sporting endeavours. Well done KSS!!
Thank you to our wonderful staff who looked after all the events throughout the day. Without their tireless efforts and enthusiasm a carnival like this would fall apart. We are very fortunate to have such a supportive staff here at KSS. They are always more than happy to get behind these events to help keep our kids feel safe and supported, and to ensure they are given every opportunity to experience a wholistic education inclusive of sport and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. Please know you are all very much appreciated!
I wanted to also acknowledge the generous support that Kenmore High School provided on the day. The dozen or so High School students that assisted on the day were fantastic. Their positive attitude and respectful behaviour is a testament to Kenmore High’s guidance. The school should be very proud of these young men and women. We at KSS very much value our relationship with the High School and hope to continue to be involved with them in the future when opportunities arise.
Now onto the results…congratulations KENNEDY!! It is a well-deserved team win. Well Done! Also a very big congratulations to our Age Champions for 2025 who after competing in the many varying events inclusive of pre carnival events (800m & Shot Put – 10-12yrs) attained the most amount of points overall. Congratulations to the following:
8 Yrs

Girls – Eleanor F

Mr Blaik
Message from Mrs Asmar
Congratulations Sophie L, Sophia Z and Samuel W for being selected for the Brisbane news writers’ show camp.
Completing all assignments in the course is a great achievement as we congratulate the following students on having done so:
- Aurelia F
- Sophie L - Selected to attend Brisbane Show Camp
- Lucas L
- Samuel W - Selected to attend Brisbane Show Camp
- Sophia Z - Selected to attend Brisbane Show Camp
Independently completing an online course of this nature requires dedication and an extraordinary effort of hard work. Students were enrolled at the beginning of Term One and the final assignment due date was towards the end of Term Two. The course is entirely self-guided and consists of eight modules, some of which end with an online quiz while others require written submissions.
It is with delight to hear that these students were successful with their studies in completing the Online News Writers Course on the Learning Place, to be selected for The Brisbane Show Camp.
The Brisbane Show Camp is a partnership program of Education Queensland and the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Qld. - The Brisbane Ekka.
Each year, students from across the state participate in the online News Writing Course in the hope of gaining a place at the camp. Only 20 places are available, so to be selected is a considerable achievement. They will now get to live-in at the Ekka on a week long camp and become involved in media activities - news writing, photography and other media activities to capture the activities and the experience of the show.
The Camp program provides an opportunity for students to:
- develop skills in the areas of digital media and news writing.
- be involved in group and individual work in planning, researching, writing and editing news stories.
- enjoy the activities of the Brisbane Ekka.
- meet new friends.
Well done and we cannot wait to hear all about your experiences as you participate in the show camp.

125 Year Anniversary on July 26
We’ve commissioned the talented Mr Ed Kennedy (past band instructor) to write a special song for our 125th anniversary, titled A Centenary and Beyond. This song will be performed at the opening of our celebration, and we’d love to make it a truly memorable, multi-generational performance.
If your child has moved on to high school, or if you have musical talents of your own, we’d absolutely love to have you join the band for this special event.
If you're interested in being part of the Kenmore SS multigenerational band on the day, please get in touch by emailing Kenmore125@kenmore.eq.edu.au.
Thank you to past and present community members for sharing their memories for our 125 Year Anniversary on July 26.
People of Kenmore
As we look ahead to our 125th Anniversary on Friday 26 July (just 36 sleeps to go), we’ve been reflecting on the many people, past and present, who have quietly shaped the life of our school.
One of those is Mrs Robyn Charlton, a long-serving staff member and former student who attended Kenmore State School in the 1960s alongside her brothers and sister. Robyn was a quiet achiever, Oxley House captain, age champion in both athletics and swimming, and a steady presence in school life. Among her collection of old awards and certificates, we found a certificate from the Australian Junior Red Cross, recognising Robyn’s commitment to health, wellbeing, and community connection- something Robyn continues to demonstrate to this day.
The Charlton family's contributions extended beyond the classroom. Robyn’s mum ran the school tuckshop and was an active member of the P&C Association, offering consistent, behind-the-scenes support to students, families, and staff over many years.
Robyn’s story reflects the kind of lasting contribution that often happens quietly- through commitment, care, and community spirit. We’re proud to recognise her as part of our school's ongoing story.
We are proud to celebrate Mrs Charlton’s story as part of our school’s rich and ongoing history.
For additional PRC Reading Logs, and student login for SORA, please contact Mrs Caskie in the library gcask1@eq.edu.au
Happy reading!
