Dear families,
We’ve recently received some wonderful photos from our past students who are now graduating from high school. It’s wonderful to see them proudly wearing their old Kenmore shirts on their last day of Year 12 as they celebrate this milestone. These moments are a beautiful reminder of the lasting connections formed during their early years with us – once a Kenmore kid, always a Kenmore kid!

Every year the Department of Education offer school communities the opportunity to provide feedback via the School Opinion Survey. The feedback for our school highlights areas of celebration for our school, as well as considerations for future development. Summary highlights can be found below:
Thank you to students, staff and families for taking a moment to provide us with this feedback. Your time and support are always appreciated.
Prep 2026 enrolments
Preparations for the 2026 school year are now well underway, and we are looking forward to welcoming our next cohort of preps for the upcoming Prep Transition Mornings: A Day in the Life of Prep.
Our 2026 Prep Transition Days will take place on:
The days are designed to support your child's transition to school. They provide a wonderful opportunity for us to get to know your child better while familiarising them with classrooms and the broader school environment. During these mornings, children will participate in various activities and be warmly welcomed to our school. We understand that attendance at all three days may not be possible for everyone. A series of workshops for parents will also be offered at this time in the school hall, focused on preparing children for school.
Classes for 2026
As we plan for 2026, I’d like to outline some of the processes we work through when allocating students to classes and the complex consideration. Many factors are considered including learning behaviours, friendships, student wellbeing considerations and academic abilities.
The allocation of students to particular classes is a multi-step process that involves both the current classroom teachers that bring specific and deep working knowledge of students after a year of working alongside them and consultation with the Leadership Team.
Parents are invited to provide input into this process only if they wish to do so. Parents can contribute to the process by completing a Class Placement Consideration Form:
Completed forms will be read by the teachers and used in the class formation process.
Students Leaving Kenmore State School
If you have a student in Prep to Year 5 who will not be attending Kenmore in 2026 or will be returning late can you please inform the school via the Student Departure Confirmation Notification and late return form found below:
This information makes a big difference to our staffing plans.
Kind regards,
Ingrid
Instrumental Music Programs 2026
It’s an exciting time of year as we begin recruitment for our Instrumental Music Programs. At Kenmore State School, we are proud to offer students the opportunity to learn an instrument, make new friends, and experience the joy of making music.
Our Strings Program begins in Year 3, giving students the chance to learn instruments such as the violin, viola, cello, or double bass. From Year 4, students can join our Instrumental Band Program, choosing from woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments. Please note that students can only be part of one of our programs.
Information about the program and the recruitment process will be shared with students in the next week, including demonstrations and try-out sessions. An online form will be emailed to all Year 3 and Year 4 families to nominate their child’s interest in joining the program.
If your child loves music or is curious about learning an instrument, we encourage your child to get involved.
Kenmore State School Music Night: Thursday 20th November 6.30pm, Bibu Outlook
We are proud of our outstanding Music Program and of the young musicians who show commitment and diligence to growing their musical skills, knowledge, skills and love of music.
On Thursday 20th November from 6.30pm, Kenmore families are invited to a night under the stars as our instrumental music students and choir students showcase their talent. The event will be held outside on our ‘Bibu Outlook’ which will provide a great amphitheater for the event.
It is also an opportunity to say thank you to our instrumental music teachers Mr Humphry, Mrs Harle and Mr Ruckels. We are very fortunate at Kenmore to have a music faculty as experienced and skilled as these three exceptional educators. Their unique skills are evident in the love of music they instill in our children. We look forward to this special event to celebrate an outstanding year of music.
We ask that students wear their school uniform to the event. More details to come.
Life Education – Let’s Talk About It Program – Year 5 and 6
Next week our Year 5 and 6 students will take part in Life Education’s Let’s Talk About It program. The curriculum-aligned education program focusses on relationships, identity and puberty.
It is designed to help support students explore the concept of identity, develop safe and respectful relationships, and understand and manage the physical and emotional changes that occur during puberty. The program is designed with the support of Queensland Health. Students will participate in 2 classroom sessions from Tuesday – Friday with the Life Education team.

The 2025 Kids’ STEM convention.
The kids’ STEM convention is a 3-phase learning experience for students from years 5-9 in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to engage with STEM subjects, topics and ways of working. This year’s topic is “Decoding the Universe - Exploring the unknown with nature’s hidden language”.
At the inspiration day students got inspired by some exciting keynote speakers as well as a variety of hands-on workshops at the University of Queensland.
Then onto the investigations. Students completed an extended 8 week inquiry-based investigation and prepared their teams to present their project work for video judging. We all then came together to celebrate. Students along with their peers, parents and teachers attended a forum of celebration at Wilston State School where investigation projects were awarded prizes. Kenmore State School was successful on the night, with 4 investigation projects receiving awards.
An encouragement award went to Lucas L, Sam W, Charles D and Jason Y for their Digital Technology project, Understanding DNA.

Design and Engineering award winners in the communication category went to Evelyn D and Jasmine K for their project Bunya Sunskink nature house.

Digital Technology award winners in the Environmental Sustainability category went to Chloe P, Hannah G, Raima J, Petra T and Luca B for their project, designing an App – Welcome to the Magical Coral World!

The school award went to Agampreet K and Ella D for their Scientific investigation – Decoding the Earth’s structure.

To all the Teams and their amazing projects, well done! You all had sensational projects that were inspirational, well developed and beautifully presented.
This is a credit to your STEM abilities.
Mrs Asmar.

2026 Student Resource Scheme – A Simpler Start for Families
From 2026, Kenmore State School will introduce a Student Resource Scheme (SRS) to replace traditional book lists. This new system means all classroom resources, from exercise books and stationery to art supplies and online subscriptions, will be coordinated and provided directly through the school.
PREP - $100
Yr1 – Yr 6 - $150
This will be invoiced early in Term 1 2026.
Please complete the SRS Participation Form and return by 14 November – SRS@kenmoress.eq.edu.au
The scheme offers families a cost-effective and time-saving alternative to sourcing individual items, ensuring every student starts the year fully equipped.
The P&C has fully supported the change, with visible relief when they realised they’d never again have to haul book packs into classrooms on the first day of term.
The scheme also includes Instrumental Music resources, covering consumables, shared materials, and options for instrument hire.
For further information please see the SRC Information Letter:
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Students should have brought home Issue 7 of the Scholastic Book Club.
Cash and Loop orders are due by 9am Monday 27th October 2025.
There are two ways to order/pay:
- Credit Card: To pay by credit card, visit scholastic.com.au/LOOP or download the LOOP app. Your order will be electronically linked to the rest of the school’s order.
- Cash: Please enclose cash with completed order form and return to school library
Your orders are very much appreciated as each order earns the school points towards buying new resources.
If you have any queries or require additional copies of the Book Club, then please contact Mrs Caskie in the library or email to gcask1@eq.edu.au
